ENTREP

The acronym ENTREP stands for “Entrepreneurial Nurturing through Transformation, Re-formation and Empowerment Program.” It is the nurturing intervention of KMBI aimed at enhancing the entrepreneurial capacity of the program members through programs that will result to transformation and/or re-formation and empowerment. The programs, actualized in financial and non-financial services, are implemented in the branch level.

Distinction with Holistic Transformation
It is distinct with holistic transformation in the sense that ENTREP is what KMBI does while the other is what KMBI wants to see in the lives of its clients, both internal and external. Likewise, ENTREP is a set of intervention programs, which the branch staff implements, while holistic transformation is the state of change which KMBI expects to happen from the interventions made. ENTREP therefore is the act, while holistic transformation is the vision. Further, ENTREP is the means, while holistic transformation is the end. In this equation, holistic transformation is both the beginning (being the vision) and the end (being the result), while ENTREP is in the middle (being the act or means).

Synonymous with Holistic Transformation
Though distinct with one another, ENTREP and holistic transformation can be used synonymously in the aspect of being the main business of KMBI. The interventions KMBI does, like microfinance, enterprise/entrepreneur development, community development, and values formation or moral recovery, all structured under ENTREP, are just means in facilitating holistic transformation. When a branch implemented properly the interventions mentioned, the branch facilitates holistic transformation in the lives of the clients. “Properly” in this sense means doing the interventions with the needed knowledge and skills, as well as in accordance to systems and policies installed for every intervention, especially microfinance. And when the branch learns to do the programs properly, the possibility of holistic transformation to take place in the life of a client becomes greater. In this assumption, ENTREP therefore is equal to holistic transformation as far as main business of the organization is concerned.

Integrated Approaches
ENTREP has three main programs – transformation, re-formation and empowerment. These programs are the guide posts in conceptualizing and implementing an activity, a project, and a sub-program. This also means that no other activity, project, and sub-program will be conceptualized and implemented outside the guide posts.

Center as Venue
In the past, the acronym “SUCCESS” is used as an adjective to define KMBI centers. However, it was realized that the adjective did not denote a community that experienced a holistically transformed life. Likewise, it lacks in identifying that the center is the primary venue where interventions should take place.

It was realized that the primary beneficiaries of ENTREP are the program members. The best place therefore to implement ENTREP is in the center. By doing so, it encourages the participation of the members of the center in achieving the desired impact. In this manner, program members or clients expect KMBI to pay special attention in delivering the programs.

Basis and Final Authority
Being a Christ-centered development organization, the guiding principles and final authority of every ENTREP program are derived from the Bible. The Bible, being the infallible and inspired Word of God, is KMBI’s source of confirmation in implementing programs and projects as part of well being activities for the clients.
