KMBI Management Committee Joins 7th Asia-Pacific Housing Forum in Thailand

KMBI delegates joined the 7th Asia-Pacific Housing Forum in Bangkok, Thailand organized by Habitat for Humanity last September 16-19, 2019.

The forum is aimed at building collaboration between organizations with the capacity to impact the low-cost housing sector in the Asia Pacific region.It also recognizes the importance of shelter as a driver of inclusion, resilience and sustainability in human settlements, and promotes innovative and high impact housing initiatives through the sharing of best practices.

The forum became a venue for KMBI key officers to pick up learnings from other players in the region, especially in positioning housing as a key driver of sustainable cities and communities.

KMBI Hosts Exposure Visit of RMDC Delegates from Nepal

Twelve (12) Nepalese delegates from the Rural Microfinance Development Center went for an exposure visit at the KMBI Panay Office, 130 Panay Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City as part of the Learning Exchange Program of the Microfinance Council of the Philippines last September 19, 2019.

Part of the learning exchange program is the orientation to microfinance processes in the Philippines in the context of KMBI, delivered by Deputy Executive Director for Transformational Development and Training Group, Ms. Hazel Christine Bayaca. The orientation discussed the component of transformation and how it integrates with KMBI's microfinance operations.

The delegates also visited one of KMBI’s center of West Avenue Branch to observe the center meeting, which is KMBI's approach to values formation. They also got to interact with the Program Members to gain insights on how these services directly impact the grassroots.

KMBI Conducts Wellness Caravan : Kalusugan para sa mga Ina ng Bayan

The Wellness Caravan was held at the By the Sea Resort Hotel in Olongapo City last August 16, 2019. The event dubbed as KMBI and KDFI Wellness Caravan: Kalusugan para sa mga Ina ng Bayan was attended by 269 Program Members from Pampanga Area.

Among the highlights of the whole-day event were talks on health and wellness, free breast and cervical cancer screening, free massage and haircut and fun games and prizes. The event was made possible through the efforts of Social Protection Division of KMBI’s Transformational Development and Training Group (TDTG), KMBI Olongapo Branch, KDFI and partner sponsors: First Life Financial Co., Standard insurance, Pinoy Ako Insurance Services, Philippine Bible Society, Philippine Cancer Society, PhilHealth and The Generics Pharmacy.

Present during the event were TDTG Deputy Executive Director Ms. Hazel Christine R. Bayaca; COG Deputy Executive Director Ms. Rachelle M. Basiya; OIC for Programs and Services Department; Ms. Cecile V. Wee, Regional Director for Luzon Operations; Ms. Lanie C. Montaño; and KMBI Pampanga Area Manager Mr. Jose Archie R. Cruz.

KMBI Key Officers Join the 20th MCPI Annual Conference

30 KMBI Key Officers join the 2019 Microfinance Council of the Philippines Conference 2019 last July 24-26, 2019 at the Manila Prince Hotel, Ermita Manila. This year’s event coincided with MCPI’s 20th Anniversary, with the theme “Transforming Microfinance through Digitalization.”

The conference discuss how digital technology is transforming financial systems and how microfinance institutions can be pro-active in embracing technology to provide more opportunities for micro entrepreneurs.

An orientation seminar about the Truth in Lending Act, Data Privacy Act and Credit Information System Act was also held during the three-day conference. One of the highlights of the event was the 1st Microfinance Client Summit which gathered clients of various MFIs as a knowledge-sharing platform. This also aims to familiarize participants with their rights as microfinance clients, teach them on how to market products and services use social media and know the government services they can avail.
